TesTex NDT Limited, a leading specialist in non-destructive testing (NDT) services for the petrochemical and bulk liquid storage industries, has been operating for over 25 years. During that time, operations relied heavily on spreadsheets, Word documents, paper-based records, and Post-it notes.

As TesTex scaled rapidly over the past four years, these manual processes exposed significant inefficiencies. Critical job information was siloed across teams—from sales and quoting through to operations, site execution, and invoicing. Field technicians often arrived on-site without access to key documentation or the asset’s inspection history, impacting planning and quality assurance.

Initial attempts to implement off-the-shelf software fell short—tools were either too rigid or missed critical features. Fully bespoke systems, while flexible, required internal development capabilities TesTex didn’t have. The Solution

TesTex partnered with Tick9 to implement the Cyferd platform—an adaptive, cloud-based solution combining flexibility, expert-led development, and ongoing support.

Working collaboratively, they built a digital operations system tailored to TesTex’s workflows. Two integrated apps—one for back-office use and one for field technicians—run on a shared database, eliminating duplication and streamlining the flow of information from job creation through to completion and invoicing.

Technicians now have real-time access to up-to-date job data and full historical records, even from inspections carried out five or ten years ago. This capability improves both field efficiency and quality of service. A custom-built Gantt chart view retained the familiarity of TesTex’s previous Excel-based planning, easing user adoption across departments.

Every form and workflow was designed around how TesTex actually operates, making the system intuitive and relevant from day one.

The Outcome

The move to a unified digital platform has transformed TesTex’s operations. Information is now centralised, searchable, and accessible in real-time—improving communication, planning accuracy, and field readiness. Technicians are better informed, and managers have clearer visibility of staff availability and workload.

Despite initial concerns around change, staff adoption was smooth. The intuitive design and fit-for-purpose build made the transition from paper to digital feel familiar—just smarter.
